dc.description.abstract | The Great Depression was devastating for most of America but the city of Buford, Georgia was able to thrive in the face of hardship. Some of the factors which played into making Buford “depression proof”, while other areas where failing, were smart business practice, plenty of money, and a sense of community. The Allen Family Industries were the main contributor to the growth of the city, their leather works help to give Buford the nickname of “The Leather City”. The balance of strong business practices and community support created a thriving Buford, even at the height of the Great Depression. | en_US |
